Abstract

organic tree fruit apple Crop Science
Production of organic temperate fruits in the US is dominated by CA and WA. Washington produces the vast majority of organic apples, pears, and cherries, and a large share of organic blueberries. Demand has generally surpassed domestic supply but growth in production has not kept pace. Prices for organic fruit have been consistently higher, often leading to more profitable production despite higher costs and often lower yields.
