serials decision database SNIP and SJR collection assessment journal usage
A serials decision database (SDD) based on work by Metz and Cosgriff was created in 2007 and updated in 2008-2010 at Washington State University (WSU) Libraries. The SDD covers information on subscribed and unsubscribed journal titles of interest to the WSU community from 2006 to 2009 and includes data from an integrated library system, citation databases, subscription agents, interlibrary loan (ILLiad), usage data and Ulrichà ¢ s serials analysis system. The primary purpose of the database has been to manage annual cancellations projects. However, the four years of data can also be used as an experimental tool. This presentation will contain a brief summary of what data is included in the SDD followed by the results of these questions. 1. What is the change in ejournal usage by subjects over time? 2. What can we learn about unsubscribed titles with usage in the SDD? 3. What is the relationship between SNIP and SJR metrics and local priority assignment? 1Metz, P. and J. Cosgriff. 2000.
