Abstract

endangered languages language revitalization language preservation native american languages languages of the pacific northwest Academic Libraries
The Northwest Pacific Coast is home to over 50 Native American languages, yet this area has also been identified as one of the most severe hotspots for language loss. Libraries of the Pacific Northwest have a unique role to play in contributing to language preservation. This paper provides an overview of endangered language materials currently held at academic libraries in the area and examines ways to support language revitalization efforts.
