Abstract
Hydroxyl radical measurements by the 14 c tracer method for tropospheric air at several sites in the United States, the Caribbean region, New Zealand, Hawaii, and Antarctica are reported. We present the latest results of these measurements, which show hydroxyl concentrations ranging from about 10 5 to 10 7 cm-3 , and compare them to measurements made by direct absorption and laser-induced fluorescence. We also compare our data to the predictions of model calculations. Our experiences in the use of the second-generation, flow reactor instrument is reviewed.
