Abstract
This dissertation consists of three independent but related papers through the examination of intertemporal dynamics. The first paper develops a model of the Washington fresh asparagus industry accounting for intertemporal yield dynamics over the course of the crops life cycle and its interactions between international free trade agreements and price volatility. The second paper explores the optimal pricing and subsidy strategies of a two-sided market platform throughout the platform life cycle. Additionally the impact intertemporal growth of platform consumers and third party manufactures on platform pricing and subsidy structures is modeled. The third paper examines forage fed cattle production in the East-Central Washington area under input and out price uncertainty. Calving enterprises are assigned to maximize profit while maintaining risk exposure from intertemporal price fluctuations below set limits.
