Abstract
Throughout the United States, school districts are rapidly shifting their use of technology in the classroom to address the educational disparities with academic achievement, inequitable access, and promote personalized learning experiences for students. This has an impact on school district leaders as it requires them to become effective users, supporters, and planners of technology. A better understanding of school district leadership practices and organizational systems to support technology integration in the classroom for student learning will assist others in leadership positions on how to effectively manage and lead for change in their own district. Using a descriptive qualitative method and semi-structured interviews with superintendents in nine Washington state districts of varied sizes, demographic, and geographic locations, this research aims to examine leaders’ perceptions of technology integration and their leadership role.
