Abstract
This dissertation contains three independent papers in the fields of behavioral finance, transportation, and environmental economics. The first paper aims to quantify online investors’ sentiments and empirically assess their impact and predictability on cryptocurrency returns. The second paper aims to evaluate the impacts of adverse weather conditions on flight delays and perform a cost-benefit analysis of using NWP technology to mitigate these impacts. The third paper aims to investigate the effect of six major pollutants recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on the frequency and severity of road accidents in six metropolitan areas across the United States.
