Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine works in the field of Latino literature to determine the author's engagement with standing stereotypes. With such information, a larger public can better understand the effects of such stereotypes and determine their overall validity. The current state of ethnic studies centers primarily on Chicano issues, but through analysis of certain non-Chicano groups, what I term throughout as Latino, a separate collection of information can exist focusing on Latino-specific issues. This is especially important considering the scarcity ofresearch currently available on Latino authors.
