Abstract
An analysis of product development processes important in the successful development of sellable cultural craft products begins with a detailed explanation of industry-wide and unique cultural inputs needed for cultural craft product development. Thus, a framework was created determining product development characteristics, skills, tools, and training needed for successful cultural craft product development. Interviews of experienced cultural craft artisans and a survey given to cultural craft product development consultants based off of the framework were analyzed and compared in order to determine important cultural craft product development components. Similarities and differences are highlighted as potential opportunities in order to improve the ability of artisans and consultants to successfully create products that can sell in large markets.
