Abstract
The interoperability over the grid and the concept of creating an energy market is also growing which brings our focus to the concept of transactive energy. The idea behind creating a transactive market is to enable energy distribution amongst prosumers. Every prosumer in the near future will have access to such distributed energy resources, so the idea is to create a market where every prosumer is able to exchange energy instead of generating more energy. This ideology involves a large number of customers so there is a need to come up with distributed platforms which can interact with devices or buildings and control loads based on dynamic requests. Because of the large number of participants, maintaining consensus or trust amongst each other is a big tedious task. Establishing a transactive market faces a lot of challenges apart from trust like creating a well auction market or deciding the energy market clearing price. The idea behind this work is to create a proof of concept of establishing a small transactive market in the campus of Washington State University involving distributed platforms like VOLTTRON. This work even looks at different type of auction mechanism and implementing the same over blockchains like Ethereum using cryptocurrencies.
