Abstract
The Sierra Summit EMG system designed and manufactured by Cadwell Laboratories features the EStim nerve stimulator whose power supply was the target for a redesign. The aim of the design is to target higher power efficiency allowing the stimulator to be powered solely by a single USB connection with no mains power supply. This paper outlines the requirements for a new EStim power supply and describes the overall design in terms of the sub-circuits used to produce each needed voltage output. A total of eight separate voltages ranging from 3.3 V to ±200 V are produced and analyzed. This paper shows each of the sub-circuits simulated in the LTspice circuit simulator software as well as the final design laid out in a printed circuit board and tested to confirm the simulated results.
