Abstract
This study focused on finding ethical trends in the profession of public relations as articulated by practitioners in articles published in The Public Relations Journal, The Public Relations Strategist, and Public Relations Tactics from 1970-2010. Articles were examined using ethnographic content analysis with keywords identified from Hunt and Grunig's communication model. Articles were categorized according to Hunt and Grunig's four-part communication model as well as Plato's ethical lover-model of communication; additional trends also emerged through research. Analysis of articles and categorization according to Hunt and Grunig and Plato's models allowed for trends to be found in public relations ethics over time.
