Abstract
I find the primary foci of my work to be discovery and memory, ostensibly opposing forces that I seek to combine by making connections between my desire to explore and investigate and my collection of memories, altered by time and shifts in perspective. These changes of perspective - the accumulation of knowledge, repeated observation or experience, and the blurring or misattribution inherent with aging - fascinate me with their ability to make what was once terrifying seem trite, the novel seem antiquated or to elevate the banal. This love of discovery leads me to experiment with a variety of mediums, to see how things work and try new things in an autodidactic desire to accumulate knowledge on as wide a variety of topics as possible. I have come to terms with the fact that this means I will never truly master anything, which for me is an acceptable tradeoff. My work allows me the opportunity to pursue new interests and combine them with ideas, concepts, or aesthetic approaches that I have momentary or longstanding affinity for or seek to explore and emulate.
