Abstract
The use of technology such as portable electronic devices with students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is gaining increased research attention. The purpose of this qualitative study was twofold: 1) to explore the research literature on students with ASD. 2) to investigate parents' attitudes about using technology and portable electronic devices with their children/adolescents with ASD. Many studies were reviewed by using many and different database and journals. Also, the survey method was used to collect the data on the parent's attitudes. The results of this study indicated that parents agreed upon the positive possible benefits of technology and portable electronic devices on their children's/adolescents' various skills in different settings. This study supports the use of technology and portable electronic devices with students with ASD as promising approach or intervention. Implications for future research and limitations of this study are discussed.
