Abstract
To investigate the compatibilization effect on the morphological, tensile and dynamic mechanical properties of PLA/SPC composites, PLA-g-MA was added to the composites at levels of 1, 2, and 4% on total. The grafting degree of MA was changed from 0.25% to 0.89%. Compatibilizer was found to be indispensible to achieve PLA/SPC composites of high mechanical and physical properties. The tensile properties of the compatibilized PLA/SPC composites were significantly higher than that of the uncompatibilized one. Fracture morphology was investigated through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and indicates enhanced interfacial adhesion.
