Abstract

This study reports on the replication of a prehistoric (ca. AD 800) Anasazi (ancestral Pueblo Indian) pithouse dwelling in southwestern Colorado. The primary objectives of the project were to obtain quantitative estimates of the materials and time required to construct, maintain, and heat such a dwelling. This thesis is accompanied by images, some of which also appear in black and white in the document itself. Note the photo key, also included to describe the images as numbered.
