Abstract
This study aims to compare two specific issues in American and Chinese higher education systems: student tuition and financial aid. The summary includes detailed numbers and facts that are related to the structures, changes and challenges of both countries higher education tuition and financial aid management over the last ten years. Based on the discussion in the study, both American and Chinese higher education systems are faced with challenges that include continuous increases in tuition charges, limited financial aid resources, and a need for optimization of tuition and financial aid management. Finally, some of the merits of the tuition and financial aid systems are discussed, and some suggestions are made that may serve as a means to improve higher education in these and other countries.
