This article considers the shift in museums and archives toward repatriating cultural materials to indigenous communities and how digital technologies play into this trend. It notes challenges inherent to the digitization of indigenous materials, such as privacy concerns and limited Internet access within indigenous communities. The article describes local efforts to address these challenges by reframing how archivists, curators, and scholars engage with indigenous cultural materials and communities as they work toward technological solutions for the problems of access, preservation, and information management. One such project is the Mukurtu Wumpurrarni-kari Archive in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, which is discussed further in the article.
