Abstract
This paper presents a generic bipolar or monopolar multi-terminal multi-converter high voltage direct current (HVDC) system model suitable for operator training simulators (OTS). This model is designed to train operators for AC-DC power system operations and controls so that they can take appropriate actions quickly under emergency conditions. This model was developed for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) OTS and can handle the most complex HVDC configurations and controls like those, for example, in the Pacific Intertie.< >
