Abstract
This paper is an informational guide to causes of vocal issues that educators experience, possible remedies and solutions for those issues, and preemptive prevention techniques. The chapters consist of the anatomy of the voice, vocal disorders, environmental factors, and resources and solutions for different levels of vocal issues. The goal of this paper is to help educators (music and general) better understand their voices and how to use them efficiently during instruction. Educators will be informed on what can happen to the voice due to fatigue and overuse in the classroom, strategies against vocal abuse and trauma, and healing techniques. All educators – from those who experience vocal fatigue, pain, or stress, to those who have just started teaching – will benefit from reading this paper
