John and Cory Aeschliman farm 4000 acres in a 15- to 20-inch annual rainfall zones from south of Dusty to Colfax, WA. Crops are winter wheat/ spring wheat/ continuous spring grains or chemical fallow on lower rainfall areas; winter wheat/ spring barley/ spring wheat on higher rainfall areas. John rented many no-till drills and experimentetd during the 1980s. He bought his first no-till drill in 1990. Nearly all crops now are direct-seeded. Series made possible by grant from the USDA Western Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program, with additional funds from STEEP III (Solutions to Economic and Environmental Problems). 8 pages.
