Abstract

Though often wrongly labeled an aphid, the balsam woolly adelgid (Adelges piceae) is a member of another family of "sucking" insects. Since reproduction is parthenogenic, one female can spontaneously give rise to a whole colony. Here are full color photographs to help identify this pest. The text explains its life cycle and control methods. NOTE: Check the label before using any chemical agents. 4 pages.
