Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine changes in the orientation (attitudes and beliefs) of preservice science teachers offering secondary science methods courses designed to help preservice teachers develop the foundational orientation and skills needed to implement adaptative teaching strategies- a strategy that allows students to act as an agent of their own learning through negotiation of ideas among colleagues, in their own classrooms. This research will be guided by three theoretical perspectives- social constructivism, the generative learning model, and sociocultural theory.
Research Question: Does the implementation of an adaptive teaching strategy in science method courses result in a change in the orientation (attitudes and beliefs) of pre-service teachers?
