Abstract

Also known as cheatgrass, this aggressive weed has spread throughout the continent after its introduction in 1861. An important source of spring forage on arid grazing lands, downy brome is a major problem in winter wheat, perennial grass seed, and alfalfa. Can cause significant reduction in yield. Discussion of rotation, mechanical, and chemical agents as controls. 4 pages.
