Abstract
The goal of this manual is to provide commercial cider apple growers with orchard management options that will reduce the need for orchard labor. Specific objectives are to provide guidance to growers in establishing a fruiting wall that will allow for mechanized management, and mechanically managing a fruiting wall to optimize fruit yield and quality. Equipment to be used depends on the scale of the orchard and available financial resources. Note that for small-scale growers, who may find mechanical harvest equipment unaffordable, mechanized thinning and pruning followed by hand harvest could still significantly reduce labor needs.
