Abstract
This publication is a field guide to the forest habitat types of the Colville Indian Reservation. The research to classify forest habitat types of this area was conducted jointly with the Soil Conservation Service soil survey of the reservation from 1983 to 1986. The objective of the joint effort was to provide baseline data on the soils and associated potential vegetation. The data base will serve as an effective tool in the management of forest lands and aid in the practice of more intrusive, site-specific silviculture throughout the reservation. The data base will also contribute to the comprehensive evaluation of the soils and vegetation of forest lands in eastern Washington.
