Abstract
This paper summarizes the results of research work on ground-water structures in the eastern part of the Columbia Basin in the State of Washington. The aim of the work was to determine the applicability of radiocarbon dating to the ground-water conditions of the Columbia basalt lava flows in the regional ground-water research and if possible, to get some basic data on ground-water flow for the design of artificial groundwater recharge. The work was concentrated in the area where a large amount of ground water is pumped for irrigation. It was estimated that the amount of ground water pumped per square mile exceeds by several times the unit yield of ground water.
