Livestock can experience heat stress during hot weather, particularly if the heat is prolonged or temperatures are extremely high. Heat stress can reduce livestock feed intake, growth, production, reproduction, health, and welfare. Thus, it is essential to understand how heat stress happens, what its signs are, what effects it has on livestock, and what management practices can help mitigate these effects and increase the chances of preventing heat stress in the future.
