According to the Washington State Department of Agriculture, organic food is the fastest growing segment of the food industry. In response to this, in 1988, the WSDA established the Organic Food Program (OFP). The OFP develops organic food production standards and certifies organic food producers, ensuring the integrity of organic food produced and sold in Washington State. This publication provides an overview of these standards and certification process for producers of crops, mushrooms, livestock, and value-added products. 8 pages.
