A number of public and private-sector organizations in Pierce County and the City of Tacoma are pursuing goals and initiatives that relate directly or indirectly to the development of a sustainable economy for the region. This report outlines a conceptual model for how regional sustainability research, relationships and resources can be identified, analyzed and applied to assist stakeholders as they work to achieve sustainability goals. The report also provides context for sustainability initiatives, presents county population and economic data, and introduces data specific to Pierce County from the 2009 Washington State Green Economy Jobs Report.
