This publication provides information on prussic acid poisoning (also known as cyanide poisoning), a metabolic condition in livestock that producers in the Pacific Northwest may not see very often, but it can potentially affect entire herds, and the resulting death rate can be economically devastating. Subjects in this publication include the causes and sources of this toxin, recognizing the symptoms of this type of poisoning, obtaining an accurate diagnosis and applying effective treatment, as well as risk factors and preventative measures.
