The authors have approached understanding of the potato from the concept of producing a percentage return on an investment. Principles of potato production developed in the Columbia Basin have been stressed in order to enable the grower to make discrete and timely judgements pertaining to their potato growing practices. These in turn should enable them to reap the greatest possible percentage returns on investment.
