Abstract
During the course, we will take a comparative global approaching to examining world cultures prior to 1500. Through the careful reading of primary sources, we will examine a number of broad topics including the relationship of humans with the divine, notions of justice, good conduct, and love. You will be asked not to merely memorize and recite “facts”, but to critically read and evaluate primary sources, make judgments based on these readings and class discussions, to synthesize diverse sources of information, and to articulate your views orally and in writing.
