Abstract
A 1968 paper on incised mudstone concretions found in the summer excavations of the Watmough Bay site on Lopez Island for undergraduates classes with Dr. Robert Greengo and Bill Holm, University of Washington: Incised mudstone concretions are limey claystones which the Natives of Lopez Island had incised line-designs on for some unknown purpose. These incised designs do show some patterns and therefore inferences can be suggested as to some of the content. These inferences are based on comparative studies between techniques found among present day Northwest Coast groups and between patterns found in local archaeological sites.
